My 5 Summer Essentials

July 18, 2017

Summer is finally here and crazy enough almost half way over. I've been loving spending time with the kids. Whether its in the pool, at tennis, or baseball I'm always on the go and have needed to find a good home/work balance this summer. Luckily work allows we the flexibity I need to do that. In the spirit of summer I wanted to tell you guys about the things that I'm loving these days!

1) Sunscreen!

A must all year round but I'm definetly more aware of the need this time of year. Rodan + Fields is my brand of choice. I like that I can get face spf as well as body spf. A little goes a long way. There isn't a lot of scent to them which is a huge thing for me. I don't like smelling like sunscreen.

The face spf I love is from the Reverse regimen. A spf 50 that contains carotenoid compand ingredients found in algae. It helps absorb uv light. These antioxidants prevent damage that is not stopped by sunscreen alone. The Body spf 30 is a product (much like most R+F) where a little goes a long way. A bottle of both will easily last me through the summer whenever that would be in MN.

2)Dry Shampoo

I'm going to start by saying I don't believe that all dry shampoos are equal. I always ask is do you run your fingers through your hair a lot in the course of a day? That extra oil from your hands then transfers to your hair causing you to need a stronger formula. I run my hands through my hair all the time and have found my go to dry shampoo is Sexy Hair Dry Shampoo. It runs about $15-20 a bottle depending on where you get it. If you don't touch your hair often you may like Goldwell Volumizing Dry Shampoo. Still a great product but just not as strong. It runs about the same in pricing as the Sexy Hair dry shampoo.

3) Rodan + Fields Mineral Peptides Powder

I'm not a fan of full face of makeup in the summer. It sweats off with the heat and humidity. So I've been obsessing with the mineral peptide powder from Rodan + Fields. It comes in 3 different shades: light, medium and dark to adjust with me as my summer tan shows up. And its easy to use with great buildable coverage. It also has an spf of 20 and wont clog pores. Also the peptides soothe and detoxifying your skin. With a price of $27 its not a bad deal!

4) Lipsense

There is a good chance you've seen this rising lip product being sold by someone on your facebook. I was curious myself so when my friend Becky started selling it I was excited to play with it. It definetly lives up to the hype! 18 hour long lasting color that is waterproof, kiss proof, and doesn't rub off. And without leaving your lips feeling dried off. If you're getting married this product is a must have for you! The only downside of this product is the exfoliating my lips have been doing from all the chapstick I was using. But a lip exfoliate has helped with that! Want to try it out for yourself? Contact Becky at to set up your own time to test out colors

5) LulaRoe 'Carly' Dress/Irma tops

Okay I have drank the LulaRoe kool-aide! But in my defense my good friends Jake and Kristen made me do it. In all seriousness though the Carly style dress they carry has easily been my summer uniform this year. It easily goes from salon life to family activity without batting an eye. I can belt it, wear it with leggings, and the absolute best part is it longer in the back so when I bend over I don't have to worry about mooning anybody. Its lightweight and moves so I don't overheat when busy behind the chair. And even my husband thinks they're cute! If I'm not in a 'Carly' I'm most likely wearing one of their Irma tops. Also lightweight and drapy in all the right places, I usually pair my Irmas with leggings or jeans! Throw on some cute jewelry and I'm ready to go. I love how comfy all of their pieces are and affordble. Click here to shop LuLaRoe Jake and Kristen Shadis!
